What is environmental wellness? Environmental wellness is best described as respecting your surroundings and understanding how personal actions impact your health and the health of the environment around you.

Practicing environmental wellness can be as simple as surrounding yourself with things that constantly benefit your growth and health, including things like a clean living space for example.  Environmental wellness is practiced by taking simple steps everyday to lead a more environmentally friendly and healthy lifestyle, all while being conscientious of your surroundings.

Living life with respect for our personal and mental health while practicing environmental wellness allows us to embrace the natural aspects that the environment has to offer. Indeed, practicing environmental wellness will naturally cause you to be both more cautious and embracing of the natural environment as well, an important aspect of our mental and physical health.

The reality of the COVID-19 pandemic reaffirms the need to live through an environmentally conscious lens, as it helps us to be more mindful of how our everyday actions impact our lives, and the lives of those around us.

It’s important to remember that the earth provides us with many incredible resources that we can use to help us remain mindful and navigate life through these unprecedented times.

Some additional examples of practicing environmental wellness include: reducing, reusing, and recycling whenever possible, minimizing your personal actions that negatively affect your health and the health of others, positive thinking, understanding that your physical environment impacts your wellbeing in both positive and negative ways, actively protecting your local environment, restricting your use of products that are detrimental to the environment, and advocating for and supporting the conservation of natural resources, among many others.

As you can see, the benefits of practicing environmental wellness are immeasurable, while at the same time, it’s not a particularly hard way of living to adapt into your everyday life. In fact, some of the environmental wellness practices I mentioned above may be things you do currently that you weren’t even aware of.

Regardless, it’s important to recognize the importance of our environment around us, the benefits it can provide to us, and the role we have to play in building a positive environment for not only ourselves, but those around us as well.
