The Staff of The Brock Press would like to congratulate Brock University alum and Varsity Assistant Coach Tonya Verbeek on her silver medal performance at the London 2012 Games in her swan song Olympiad. Competing and medaling in her third consecutive Olympic games (Silver 2004 and 2012, Bronze 2008), Verbeek’s hard work and achievements have fortified her legacy now as one of the greatest Canadian female Wrestlers of all time. Also deserving of a tip of the hat is Varsity Wrestling Head Coach Marty Calder, a six time Olympian (two-time Athlete, four-Time Coach) who has been with Verbeek at all three of her Olympiads as her Coach. Good luck to Tonya as she competes in the World Championships in September. Also representing Brock are Terry Paul (Coach, Men’s Rowing), Elizabeth Walker-Young (Assistant Chef de Mission, Paralympics), and Jeff Dunbrack (Head Coach, Adaptive Rowing). You are a credit to the Brock University community. Surgite.
