Women’s Hockey
The Women’s Hockey team concluded its preseason exhibition schedule by hosting the Chinese National Women’s Hockey team Sept. 30 at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. Junior Jessica Fickel scored both Badgers goals in the 4-2 loss. Brock opens its regular season on Oct. 6 against the UOIT Ridgebacks. The puck drops at 3:15 p.m. at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.

 

Women’s Basketball
The Badgers Varsity squad held the Niagara College Knights to just 18 points in the third Annual Peninsula Hoops Classic on Sept. 28 in Welland. Brock led 53-7 at half on their way to the 84-18 exhibition win. The Hoops Classic has cumulatively raised $7,000 for the United Way since its inception. Brianne Ozimok led all scorers with 14 points, with senior Emily McKay adding nine to the one-sided tally.

 

Men’s Basketball
The Men’s Varsity team lost to the Niagara College Knights 78-71 on Sept. 28. Brock led by as many as 16 in the fourth quarter, but were held scoreless over the last four minutes of the game as the Knights completed the comeback victory. Newcomer Mike Luby produced a game-high 18 points, coming up one rebound shy of a double-double. Tshing Kasamba, Issack Egueh and Michael Williams all scored in double digits.

 

Rowing
The Varsity Rowing Crews grabbed nine total medals (4G, 4S, 1B) at the Head of the Trent Regatta in Peterborough. The Heavyweight Men’s Four, Lightweight Men’s Four, Heavyweight Women’s Four and Lightweight Women’s Double all took home gold. Brock hosts its Invitational Regatta Oct. 13 at the Royal Canadian Henley Course in Port Dalhousie.


Men’s Soccer
The Varsity squad picked up their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw against the Western Mustangs on the road Sept. 22. Senior goaltender Jake Sweetzer picked up the shutout. The Badgers then travelled to McMaster, losing 4-0. Brock will host both Laurier (Oct. 3, 3:15 p.m.) and Waterloo (Oct. 7, 3:15 p.m.) this week.

 

Women’s Soccer
The Badgers dropped a pair of road games to Western and McMaster. On Sept. 26, two first half Western goals sealed the shutout victory despite an eight save performance from Brock Goalie Luciana Di Paolo. Backup Megan Beachey grabbed 11 saves against McMaster, but conceded four goals in the 4-0 loss. The Badgers host Laurier (Oct. 3, 1:00 p.m.) and Waterloo (Oct. 7, 1:00 p.m.) this week.
