Well, the summer is over, and soon classes will begin. However, in the meantime, O-Week 2012 is going to be full of fun and exciting events for everyone, including some new and very creative events that should make O-Week 2012 one of the most unique O-Weeks’ ever. No matter whom you are, this year’s O-Week offers a variety of events and activities for both freshmen and returning students.

Of course, there will be the O-Week classics, including the Tower Party which took place Monday night, where hopefully many of you new comers got your first taste of a real Brock party.

The club vendor fair will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Schmon Tower Field (the giant grass field in front of the giant tower, you can’t miss it). Here, students have the chance to explore the many diverse clubs that Brock has to offer, and connect with like-minded students.

Tuesday night will also feature a comedy night, where some of the best up-and-coming comedians will perform live at Isaac’s. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Cover is $8 or free for all students with Access Gold.

Thursday night will be host to Condom Poker & Casino Night in Ian Beddis Gymnasium (the giant gym visible from outside Walker Complex). The cost is $5 or free for students who have Access Gold. The grand prize is a free trip to Las Vegas. If you enjoy poker, sex and Las Vegas, this just might be the event for you.

O-Week is full of many more events than could possibly be fit into this article, so we decided it would be best to highlight those events that will be first time O-Week events. This year includes some over-the-top events. Remember Uh-Oh, the kids’ game show you watched from the 90’s? O-Week will host its own version of Uh-Oh in Jubilee Court (Outside Decew Residence) at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, where you can unleash your inner-child and win some prizes along with it, including a very fitting Nintendo 64, e-readers, and more. Be prepared, not even the audience is safe from this extravaganza.

Going along with the theme of out-of-control ridiculously messy events, on Friday night at Weatherstation Field O-Week will be holding its first ever paint party. With some slip and slides, music, prizes and enough paint to drench over 1,000 students, what more could you ask for? If you have a craving for some messy fun, stop by Weatherstation Field Friday at 6:00 p.m. The event is $3 or free for students with Access Gold.

Feel left out not living in residence? Brock Off Campus is hosting a mocktail party Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Isaac’s. Brock Off Campus is an organization that organizes events and social for students living off campus to connect and get to know one another. If you live off campus and want to meet new people, come out to this event, get to know some fellow students, have some food and get pumped up for the evening concert!
Every year, BUSU attracts some of the biggest names in the music industry for its annual O-Week concert. This year will feature Steve Angello, whose electronic dance music has topped charts around the world. Tickets will be on sale Tuesday and Wednesday at the Vendor Fair for $35, $40 at the door and free for all students with Access Gold. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. at Weatherstation Field. Word of advice, get there early, this show is a hot ticket.

Do not forget Shinerama, which takes place Saturday starting at 7:30 a.m. at Isaac’s. Every year, Brock students join other students from around the country to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research in a community car wash/shoe shine. Attendance earns you a free Shinerama t-shirt.

An epic paint party, a crazy game show and a world class concert are just some of the things BUSU has in store for O-Week 2012.

Said BUSU Vice President, Student Services Cooper Millard “Orientation Week 2012 is the only week in the year where a student can go to a comedy show, 3 concerts, outdoor dance parties, hikes, fairs, tours and of course SHINERAMA!” For the full O-Week schedule check out www.busu.net/events/o-week/home
