Students are being welcomed back to school and a new semester with a week of activities.

Frost Week – the annual January orientation week organized by Brock University Students' Union (BUSU), will be running from Monday, Jan. 9 to Friday, Jan. 13 concluding with a ball hockey tournament and concert on Jan. 14. At the beginning of the week, BUSU representatives will be at the Tower giving out free hot chocolate and toques. This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the different Frost Week activities. This year's Frost Week includes both new activities and past favourites such as condom poker, a Stop Light Party and a Euchre tournament. Frost Week started off on Jan. 9 with Isaac's Bar and Grill hosting a movie night with all-you-can-eat chicken wings.

On Jan. 10 United Gamers of Brock will be hosting a "Games Day" at the Skybar Lounge from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. There will be two tournaments running, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for Xbox 360 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for the Playstation 3. There will also be a Nintendo Wii present for pick-up-and-play. Students can register for Call of Duty individually or as a team at the Skybar Lounge between 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., or by E-mailing Mong Nguyen at mnguyen@busu.net. There will also be a Brock Shines Coffee House from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Skybar Lounge where local artists will be showcasing their art to raise money to fight Cystic Fibrosis. In the evening, Brock Off-Campus (BOC) has organized a bus trip from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. to Niagara Fall's Rink at the Brink, an outdoor ice skating rink with a wonderful view of the Horseshoe Falls. This event is free for BOC members, otherwise it is $5. The bus will be leaving from Schmon Tower, and students can bring their skates or rent a pair for $5. At Isaac's Bar and Grill there will be a Toronto Maple Leafs game from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. which includes prize NHL jerseys and hockey obstacles set up inside Isaac's and on the patio. Afterwards, there will be an all-ages Stop Light Party, with the Skybar open.

On Jan. 11 there will be a vendor fair at Isaac's until 5:00 p.m. featuring live music and an ice cream eating contest.  This will be a chance to check out clubs, campus services and local businesses; many clubs will be performing on stage as well. In the evening, Brock's Women's and Men's Basketball teams will be competing against McMaster at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. respectively, in the Bob Davis Gymnasium. Also, Men's Hockey will be facing off against Western at the Seymour-Hannah Center. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m., and no transportation is being offered.

On Jan. 12 there will be a Candidates Cafe in the Skybar from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. where students interested in running for BUSU positions can learn more information. At Isaac's Bar and Grill from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., is the B-Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament, the winner of which gets a trip for two to Panama City this spring break. Students must register for a spot online at busu.net/frost. Next from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. is the Condom Poker Casino Night in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium. Also, Women's Hockey will be facing off against Western at the Seymour-Hannah Center, puck drops at 7:15 p.m., and again no transportation will be offered. In the evening, there is a Yuk Yuk's Comedy Night at Isaac's with an all-you-can-eat pasta buffet. The two comics performing will be DJ Trixx and Keith Pedro.

On Jan. 14 Special Needs Activity Program (SNAP) is hosting their third annual four-on-four Ball Hockey Tournament. The tournament will take place in the Zone 2 parking lot and there are spots for 16 teams. Sign-up will be in the Fishbowl all week from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The cost is $50 for a team or $10 individually, and goalies must supply their own equipment.
