Trivia Night at the Holy Rosary Church

This Friday, Nov. 2, the Holy Rosary Church in Thorold is hosting a trivia night to help raise money for restoration.

The church is located at 35 Queen St. South and the event will be held in the Holy Rosary Hall across the street. Teams of up to 10 people may be put together, or you can sign up individually and be placed on a team.

Why not embrace the Halloween spirit and dress your whole team up? Organizers are encouraging participants to wear something unique to help differentiate the teams. Hot food and snacks will be provided with a cash bar at this 19-year-old plus event.

All the proceeds of the event go towards restoring the dormer windows on the church roof. This is the second year that the church has hosted a trivia night in the Holy Rosary Hall.

Last year had an attendance of around 150 participants and the money raised was used to give the church a new roof. This year expects just as many and it is the beautiful dormer windows that need restoring.

“This year we are focusing on the young and the young at heart,” said one of the volunteers. “It’s a great opportunity for different generations to meet and have a good time.”

For those who love trivia and frequent the pub for a quiz now and again, be sure to check this event out. It may sound a bit pricey for the student budget, but it will surely be worth it if you can manage. Prizes have not yet been decided as the church relies on donations. Past events have included wine bottles, gift certificates and hockey tickets. There may or may not be a prize for best dressed team, so keep that Halloween costume handy.

The Holy Rosary Church also hosts a pasta dinner on the first Thursday of every month. For $9 you can enjoy all the pasta you can eat. Salads are also provided and take-out is available.

If you live in the Thorold area and are not in the mood to cook, treat yourself and stop by for a hot, fresh meal. The food is great and the atmosphere is friendly.The trivia night begins at 7:00 p.m. and should go to about 11:00 p.m. Tickets for the event may be purchased for $20 per person by calling the parish office at 905-227-3178.
