Niagara's music history focus of a new documentary

By Matthew Hadley

I'm sitting in one of downtown St. Catharines' most frequented pubs - one that has musical acts perform on a regular basis - talking about how the region has lost its music scene. It seems odd. Out of the window I can see at least three more venues that frequently host music.

By Joe Scaringi

A little over a year ago, Niagara Falls' resident Joe Stracuzzi had a vision - a vision to create his very own talk-show. Just over a year later, Stracuzzi's vision has not only become a reality, but on Dec. 5, 2009, it will achieve its first major milestone, as his creation, MOCtalk, will celebrate its one-year anniversary.

By Chris Illich

Max Bemis' third release, the self titled album under his moniker Say Anything, is his strongest piece of work, although some would probably disagree with me due to the cult-like status of Is a Real Boy. After Bemis came onto the scene five years ago with his 2004 Doghouse Records debut Is a Real Boy, he was heralded as the next great indie-emo lyricist and songwriter.

The Poetry of a Line: Arnold McBay at Pan Café

By Michael Dirisio

Drawing on the mysterious and ineffable for inspiration, Brock's own Arnold McBay has honed his skills as a visual artist, often expressing his interest in the unknown through the simple gesture of a line or mark. With recent drawings currently on display at Pan Café in St.

The Broken Record

By Matthew Hadley

A picture is worth a thousand words - or in some cases, a couple million dollars. Earlier this year, Annie Leibovitz, one of the world's most famous photographers, faced bankruptcy. Leibovitz, who has most notably been the photographer for Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair, has taken some of the most iconic images of the world's celebrities for three decades.

High Fidelity

By Josh Learn

Who saw this one coming? That question could be a reference to the topic on this week's High Fidelity (I have lost my imagination and rely on pop culture events to occur to cultivate a top-five list), or Adam Lambert's performance at the American Music Awards.
