Bringing back a lost sense of musical sincerity, Ron Sexsmith has managed to build an impressive career while remaining grounded. Born in St. Catharines and now residing in Toronto, Sexsmith continues to make Niagara proud. Often accompanied by an eclectic mix of instruments, Sexsmith has an uncanny ability to deliver a range of emotions, through a range of genres.
Working in the music industry has always been one of those 'golden ticket' jobs. So many people try to break into the scene, and ultimately fail at living their illusions of grandeur. Luckily, for local promoter Pat Murphy, he found his niche when he was 17 and has been working towards building his business, the Niagara Music Scene, as high as he can fathom.
So if you're like me, you will be graduating within the next month to six months. Seeing as how we are all so wise and did such a good job of obtaining our degrees, there should be a plethora of jobs on the market… Canadians start over 100,000 businesses a year, however, 85 per cent end up failing within the first three years.
On Nov. 21, the stage at the Sullivan Malhoney Courthouse Theater in St. Catharines will play host to the Lyndesfarne Theater Project. This group of talented actors is joining forces to bring to life Martin McDonagh's critically acclaimed play, The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

Director Roland Emmerich loves chase scenes. His protagonists are always forced to outrun something. Think about it: in Independence Day, it was aliens and outrunning the explosions they were creating; in Godzilla, it was outrunning a giant lizard; in The Day After Tomorrow, it was the cold (remember that scene? Yeah, it was bullshit); with 2012, it's … well, everything - the ground collapsing, buildings falling, lava spraying, oceans intruding.

The bond we form with art is a powerful thing. But it can also build expectations. After I first saw the film Once starring The Swell Season's Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, I was stunned by the beauty of their music. So much so that, with the exception of "Drown Out", those songs on the band's self-titled debut that weren't in the film seemed lackluster by comparison.
Blackouts marks a slight break from The Snips' characteristically horn-driven punk-rock-meets-hardcore sound. Though their prior release, Check Your Audio, displayed, at times, awkward transitions between their rocking punk riffs, catchy horn sections and chugging guitars, Blackouts has cleaned up the mix.
