Brock men's rugby completed a dream season on Saturday, defeating division-rival Queen's in the OUA championship game by a final score line of 22-6. The hard-fought victory gave the Badgers rugby team their first ever provincial title, as they beat the Golden Gaels for the second time this season.
When you are the top team in the league, ranked fifth in the nation and showcase the country's top goal scorer, it is only natural to have every other team in the OUA gunning for you. However, that number five ranking is nothing more than a number to Badgers head coach Murray Nystrom and his team, accepting the fact that the season is still young.
Brock University got its first look at its 2007-08 fencing team as the Badgers hosted the Brock Invitational Tournament at the Ian Beddis Gymnasium on Nov. 10 and 11. The tournament had all three styles of fencing on display - epee, foil and sabre. Each of which has its own set of rules and guidelines.
The Brock Badgers women's volleyball team fell below the .500 mark for the second time this season during this past weekend, losing twice in as many days to visiting Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier. Waterloo, who came into Sunday's contest with a record of six wins and no losses (first in the Ontario University Athletics West Division), continued their winning ways by defeating the Badgers three games to one (16-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-22) in front of close to 100 fans at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Never ever did I ever once ever, think that I would fall for the Atlanta Hawks. Ever. With their disgusting ketchup and mustard jerseys and their lack of players worth mentioning or even watching, I despised this team. Even worse, I forgot this team existed.
Who will stop the New England Patriots? While it's hard to believe that anybody can defeat the team that could very well be the greatest in the history of American football, even the best properties in sports have had their struggles. Muhammad Ali, recognized by many as the greatest boxer of all-time, lost twice in his absolute prime.
Brock News: The Badger men's basketball team dropped their Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season opener 72-66 when they travelled to Queen's on Friday. The Badgers were up by 10 heading into the half but ended up losing by six points due to the lacklustre third quarter where they were outscored 21-8.
We're now in the third year of a "hard salary cap" in the NHL, and I'm left wondering if it was actually worth having, or if it's just a good way to pretend that teams are on an equal playing field. The cap for each season is decided by the previous season's revenues, the number of clubs playing, growth factors, midpoints and more formulas than you'll find in a first year math class, so I'll spare you the details on how to get it.
