The GST is getting another reduction, according to the Conservative government. Announced Oct. 6, the second cut to the tax in as many years is proving highly controversial. "Do tax cuts pay for themselves? Well, certainly the GST reduction didn't," said Global Insight, an Ottawa-based think tank.
