On Feb. 7, the first of three BUSU election debates occurred in the After Hours Lounge of DeCew Residence. Though the crowd consisted mainly of current Brock University Students' Union (BUSU) staff and the candidate's campaign members, it still proved to be an engaging and entertaining debate.
After two long weeks of campaigning BUSU election results were announced Feb. 15, at 11:30 p.m. to a crowded Isaac's bar. All candidates, along with their campaign teams waited in anticipation from 9 p.m. when the polls closed, and three and a half hours later, some were awarded with the satisfaction of a seat on Brock University Students' Union's (BUSU) executive council for the 2007/2008 school year.
Brock University was the target of yet another safety issue this school year, as a bomb threat in the Walker Complex forced a prompt evacuation of the area on Feb. 8. Shortly after 11:30 a.m., the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) received a phone tip from an unknown caller who claimed there was a bomb in the athletics portion of the campus.

1. President - Kithio Mwanzia, VPSS - Lauren Souch, VPFA - Adam Smith, VPUA - Brad Humble. 2. A fair election is how they have it now, with limitations on spending, there's no campaigning outside classrooms. Everyone has the same opportunities and whether they take advantage of that, is totally up to them.
1. President - Kithio Mwanzia, VPSS - Lauren Souch, VPFA - Adam Smith, VPUA - Brad Humble. 2. 1. President - Kithio Mwanzia, VPSS - Lauren Souch, VPFA - Adam Smith, VPUA - Brad Humble 2. A fair election is being out in the hallways and, having a fair debate without attacking one another. I have no idea where in history it occurred, but sometimes debate turns into taking personal attacks on people, where in reality it should be voicing what you believe in, how you feel this school should be governed, your platform and what you want to accomplish.
1. Ron Gourlay who is the Business Manager, Tom Bonney is the Kitchen Manager, Rob Morosin who is the Liquor and Bar Manager; there is a large management team. I know a lot of them, and have dealt with a lot of them on numerous occasions. 2. I think what makes a fair election is a respect for the other candidates at our level, and the second thing is equitable application of the rules in accordance with bylaw 650.
1. One of the things we've been discussing is the fact that we're not supposed to completely revolutionize the institution. Our job is supposed to be very pragmatic and make sure our responsibilities are fulfilled. We want to make sure that we're meeting the strategic goals of BUSU, like the strategic plan to comply with the constitution and the bylaws, etc.
1. We've talked about it already but our personal goal with the Board of Directors is to make it more transparent and more accessible so the students can understand what goes on if the information is more readily available to them. 2. Both: Well there are mechanisms in the students' union to help deal with that.

On Feb. 8 in Isaac's, candidates struggled to speak over throngs of chatting students the majority not seeming concerned with the elections process.
