Last call for booze bus?

Thorold residents, alleging vandalism by drunken Brock students, have urged their city council to have the late-night limo, or booze bus, shut down. Students are dropped off at the corner of St. David's Road and Tupper Drive by the bus, and then have to pass through the neighbourhood to get to their homes.

Unisex toilets spark controversy

At a recent meeting of the Brock University Students' Administrative Council (BUSAC), motion was put forward in support of the creation of a number of unisex washrooms on the Brock campus. The issue was put forward, a number of councillors say, to address the notion of accessibility on campus, in a number of ways.

Jewish/Palestinian tensions mount at York as groups clash

TORONTO (CUP) - The halls of York University once again became the battlefield for a student body torn by deep cultural divisions. A theatrical performance by the Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights was rivalled on March 16 by a vigil organized by the campus' Hillel organization and a group called the Young Zionist Partnership.

Charter gains student support

BC students advise PM on foreign policy

VANCOUVER (CUP) - Bright young Western Canadian minds with a penchant for discussing global human security issues met at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to create foreign policy recommendations to be presented to Prime Minister Paul Martin and his government at the end of the month.

Over 3200 attend spring open house

Students from across Canada were welcomed to the Brock campus March 21 as part of the university's annual Open House. The event offers information sessions, seminars and demonstrations from Brock's various departments. June Corman, Brock University's director of labour studies, said her department is taking "great strides" toward making its courses more useful for students.

Archaeology symposium honours Brock professor

The Brock University Archaeology Society held its annual symposium March 20, an event held this year in honour of retiring Brock professor David W. Rupps, who originally created the student-run society. In 1989, Rupps saw the need to organize a students' society to increase interest in archaeology, so he formed the Brock University Archeology Society.

Professor unveils her "dung file"

EDMONTON (CUP) - A curator at the Provincial Museum of Alberta has opened herself up to ridicule from four-year-olds everywhere by creating a catalogue of more than 250 pieces of research about preserved excrement. The Dung File is a bibliography of research about animal and plant remains found in latrines, as well as feces from archaeological and paleoenvironmental sites.
