How to apply:
To be eligible for employment with The Brock Press you must be enrolled as a student at Brock University during your time of employment. To apply for one or more of the available positions, please prepare a resume, cover letter and three examples of writing (press style writing such as articles are best, but essays, reports and other examples will suffice). What you need to know about the job:
The position is on contract from August 2018 – April 2019. You must be available for all Production Days, which is every Monday starting at 9:00 a.m, and every Tuesday mornings to upload articles to The Brock Press website. If you have a class you’re allowed to step out. There is a training weekend in late August, which all employees are expected to attend.
Social Media Editor – This position will be required to operate The Brock Press social media pages and website.
The Social Media Editor must have the skills to operate Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite and WordPress. Each week the Social Media Editor will upload every article to The Brock Press website, with expectation of creating a clear layout with the article and photos. Social Media Editor must also be able to create relatable key words and SEO to go with article postings. Throughout the week the Social Media Editor must post articles to The Brock Press social media pages, and must make sure the articles are still relevant at the time posted. Social media pages should also be updated with other material, such as breaking news, contests and other interesting material. There is also an expectation of creating new ways to grow The Brock Press following on social media.
Applicant must be available on August 25 and 26 for training and available on Monday’s as detailed above.
