What you need to know about the job:

The position is on contract from July 2020 – April 2021. You must be available for all Production Days, which is every Monday starting at 9:00 a.m. If you have a class you’re allowed to step out. There is a training weekend in the summer, which all employees are expected to attend.

Chief Photographer – This position will be required to take photos of events, portraits of people and places (relevant to articles) and be creative with other requests.

The Chief Photographer will work with one Assistant Photographer. The role of the Chief Photographer is to assign their assistant with weekly requests by reviewing the story lists of each section of the newspaper. The Chief Photographer should also be taking weekly photos through the requests of editors, and should use their creativity to come up with photo ideas that might not be included in story lists. The Chief Photographer is not required to have their own camera, as The Brock Press will provide equipment necessary, but personal cameras are welcome. This job also requires the skills to use Photoshop, other Adobe programs and photo editing programs.

As the Chief Photographer, you are required to supervise one assistant, who will help fulfill the photo requests each week. The Chief Photographer is also required two hours of office hours per week and is expected to attend a weekly staff meeting. Applicant must be available in the summer for training and available on Monday’s as detailed above.
