What you need to know about the job:

The position is on contract from August 2018 – April 2019. You must be available for all Production Days, which is every Monday starting at 9:00 a.m. If you have a class you’re allowed to step out.

Assistant News Editor – This position covers on-campus news, including University affairs, coverage of BUSU, clubs, student events/initiatives and other relevant content, as well as local regional news.

An Assistant is required to write two to three articles per publication of about 700 words in length, with an additional article that will go online during the week. Number of articles per week could change depending on the week. Every writer will be aware of their article topics by Tuesday afternoon and have a deadline to complete the articles by Saturday 5:00 p.m. Editors are required to brainstorm stories that include on-going campus and local news and investigative pieces. Editors must attend the events they are writing on and conduct interviews – representing The Brock Press in a professional manner. Assistants must also attend one hour of office hours and a weekly staff meeting.

The Assistant News Editor will report to the News Editor throughout the year.
