While cleaning out a filing cabinet in Brock's Special Collections, staff on the 10th floor of the Schmon Tower made a discovery that many historians dream about.
What they found was a document that was initially thought to be from the 15th century. However, after further investigation, experts now believe that the parchment dates back to the year 1216, making it one of the oldest documents in Ontario.

It seems that every day we are being warned about the increasing health risks caused by various products that we use or foods that we eat.
It is no longer a secret that many of us choose what is convenient rather than what is healthy.
In spite of this, two local entrepreneurs hope that they can inspire others to adopt a lifestyle that is more sustainable, natural and rooted in an emerging organic industry.

It was inevitable.
The public pretended it wasn't, and governments and executives did all they could to convince us otherwise, but it was. And now that it's happened, that is that General Motors (GM) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the historic company can finally begin down the path toward profitability.

Although many people were hoping for a cap on how much interest credit card companies could charge, the new regulations concerning credit cards announced by Finance Minister Jim Flaherty are still significant.
Among the most beneficial changes is that credit card companies must now allow a 21-day grace period before charging interest instead of the common practice of immediately charging interest on purchases if the cardholder had failed to pay their prior balance.

In the last week of May, all of Canada's Big Six banks announced their second quarter results with some surprising and some disappointing results.
All the banks tried to shed light on the positive aspects of their business - specifically growth in the personal banking divisions - as a sign that the mediocre performances are merely a result of unavoidable exposure to fluctuating security devices in their institutional portfolios.

Naturally, what that means is that I went to the movies, but the terminology they had in the early days of Hollywood encompasses a certain romanticism, so I prefer their lingo.

The Ceremonial Snips started out in 1999 as an opportunity for some high school boys to learn what it was like to play in a band.
Who would have guessed that 10 years later, after a few transformations in the line-up, all their hard work would have paid off?
In the 10 years following their formation, they have released several albums and played countless shows - which included some Warped Tour dates last summer, as well as an opening slot for NOFX in the fall.

On June 5, 2009, Phil Fontaine said he would not seek a fourth three-year term as National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, a decision that came as a shock to many in Canada.
Fontaine had been leader during some of the most monumental moments in recent Aboriginal history, including the historic apology from the federal government for decades of racism and abuse at the hand of government-funded aboriginal residential schools, as well as a visit to Vatican City along with a group of other Aboriginal delegates that met with the Pope, who also expressed feelings of sorrow for the Roman Catholic Church's role in the school systems.

The Broken Record: Television - like being part of a winning team

One-hundred million?
Well, almost.
Nearly 100 million votes were cast for the finale of this season's American Idol.
Do you know how many people voted in the 2008 Presidential Election? Approx-imately 122.5 million.
I don't know about you, but those numbers seem far too close to one another.

High Fidelity: Top-10 "Summertime" Beers

If there is one equation that I have figured out all on my own, it's that summer = drinking beer. On the beach, at the cottage, in the hospital, wherever, a beer is most appropriate to quench that summertime thirst. This article has been one of my favourite due to the in depth research involved in choosing the best beers of the summer.

Film Review
Drag Me to Hell

When I was a kid, my grandpa had the vastest of movie collections.
Almost 1,200 VHS tapes with (usually) three movies per cassette, of every genre of film imaginable.
I remember falling in love with horror films. By the time I was 10, I had seen terribly recorded versions of every freakin' Halloween and almost every version of Friday the 13th.

Last November, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were watching at home as the Calgary Stampeders hoisted the Grey Cup and were crowned champions of the Canadian Football League.
Boasting a regular season record of 3-15 that was unflattering to say the least, the lacklustre Ti-Cats were done like dinner well before the playoffs had even begun.

On the night of May 26, 2009, an idea was struck that would forever change the game of hockey. Well, that is to say, it would if it were to ever be implemented.
On this Tuesday eve, my cousin and I were enjoying a third round matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes and the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Vancouver Canucks, my heart goes out to you.
It must be hard losing out in the second round and seeing the league's best goalie, your own, let in seven goals as the team gets eliminated in game six of round two.
I know for myself, a die-hard Canucks fan whose lack of a summer job made following the Canucks' fall quite easy, it was a painful playoff.

Joe Scaringi,
After reading your picks for the 2010 Men's Olympic Hockey team, I'm sure as hell glad your not in charge of picking our rosters! I really don't think any of your rosters are championship contenders and will ask you the question, do you even watch hockey? I mean Chris Mason, Alex Auld, Adam Foote, Chris Phillips, Paul Kariya, Danny Briere, Jonathan Cheechoo, and Ryan Smyth all on your 1st team? I mean come on man, how do you not have Luongo, Ward, Turco, Steve Mason, Phaneuf, Boumeester, Neidermayer, Pronger, Nash, Lecavalier, St.
