Brock students are welcome to start the term socializing with friends during a night of crafting put on by Student Life.
There may not be anything better than an opportunity to hang out with friends, do a craft and enjoy hot chocolate and coffee. That is exactly what Student Life is offering for this Frost Week event. They would like to welcome students to join in Cozy Craft Night (CCN).
This event will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the Pond Inlet from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to attend at the beginning of the event as there are only 48 spots available.
Student life plans a number of events throughout the year for students to get involved with.
“Cozy Craft Night is mostly to get back into the semester. It is a fun way to socialize with friends and to meet new people,” said Jessica Sardella, student life assistant at Brock.
The craft for this cozy evening will be a faux winter themed terrarium. Since it will be winter-themed there will be fake snow and pine trees to create that perfect frosty decoration.
Joining in special events like these are beneficial to students in their university experience.
“I think it is really important to communicate and interact with other students in order to enjoy the experience. To have a good experience at Brock and meet new friends. I think is an important part of the university experience,” said Sardella.
Taking part in this event is not only about the fun crafting it is also about improving the student experience at Brock. This event also seeks to improve social skills, hands-on skills and other skills that students may take with them into their careers and into the wider world as adults.
The variety of skills exercised accentuate the importance of continuing to participate in the Campus-wide co-curriculum (CWC). Through participating in the 10 domains of the program, students can learn valuable skills and lessons from others outside their social circles and outside the classroom. A reminder of some of the domains include: leadership and teamwork, innovation and creativity, health and wellness, global awareness, career preparation and art and culture to name a few.
According to Sardella students can get credit for CWC by attending three Frost week events. This event is one. Others include the vendor fair, headphone disco, dirty bingo, the indoor ice rink and more.
But as for CCN join Sardella and her team to make the fabulous faux terrarium craft to decorate your dorm or give away to that special friend. As an added bonus to the event there will be free Timbits, hot chocolate and coffee for participants.
