Brock University’s Goodman Group Venture Development unit will be helping local entrepreneurs and students to network at their special LINC UP event.
Goodman Group is part of the Goodman School of Business at Brock University. The group offers consulting services, executive development workshops, professional development workshops and venture development workshops. They also strive to deliver services and programming for both the Brock and Niagara communities by providing direct access to a full range of learning and development services offered by faculty, staff and students.
LINC UP will be held on Thursday, November 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Goodman School of Business Atrium. The team is hoping to provide attendees with the opportunity to network with entrepreneurs from across Niagara to expand their horizons.
“Venture Development is a unit here on campus that works to support entrepreneurs, regardless of faculty,” said Cassie Price, Manager of Goodman Group Projects for Brock’s Goodman Group. “Venture Development provides seminars, training events and networking opportunities to help entrepreneurs take their business ventures to the next level.”
According to Price, there is no agenda for the event but to network. Opening remarks will be given at the beginning of the event but the rest of the time will be for students and entrepreneurs to network with one another. This event will also recognize entrepreneurs that are part of the sixth cohort of the Kick-Starting Entrepreneurship program.
“Every year Venture Development, formerly called BioLinc, hosts networking events to bring together student entrepreneurs and local start-ups,” said Price. “[These events] provide a great opportunity for entrepreneurs at Brock and in Niagara to connect and expand their networks.”
Networking events like LINC UP will continue to be hosted at Brock as a result of the demand and positive response received from students.
“Students and young entrepreneurs have been very engaged in attending our networking events such as LINC Up in the past,” said Price. “I would like students to come to the events and meet someone new and expand their network. [They] don’t have to have a start-up or a business venture yet, [once] they have an interest in entrepreneurship and innovation they can attend.”
The next event out of Goodman Group Venture Development for the month is the Business Model Canvas Workshop. In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to the Business Model Canvas and the key questions to be considered when designing a business model. This workshop will be led by Dr. Robert Madronic from Niagara College.
