BUSU has released an update about changes to transit for the Winter term, in effect until April.
“What we’re trying to achieve with these recent changes in our schedules is ensuring our students have the ability to access our campus from 8:00 a.m. and remain on campus all day up until 11:00 p.m., for whatever activities they’re on campus for, and are still able to get home safely at night,” said Bilal Khan, the Vice President, Finance and Administration with the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU).
A total of six routes will see extended hours on either weekdays or weekends, including the Brock — Pen Centre route, which will run later every day of the week.
“What these changes really do is align the hours of operations of any major activities happening on campus, whether it be lectures or the hours of operation of the library or Walker Complex,” said Khan. “What we really want to be able to achieve is to ensure that there is a sufficient level of service on all of our major routes in St. Catharines and Thorold for students to be able to participate in those activities.”
Also new is a stop located on Richmond Street in Thorold, providing another bus stop for the Winterberry neighbourhood, which has a large student population.
“That was our short term solution to the Winterberry problem and we will be adding two more stops to address the issue in the short term while we continue to work on bringing the Winterberry bus back permanently,” said Khan.
Students may provide feedback regarding transit via a form available on the student union website or by directly contacting Khan at VPFA@brockbusu.ca
