Badgerfest is the annual celebration of welcome week, which if you’re a first-year student, marks the first week of your Brock University career. It’s a wonderful week full of vendor fairs, events and volunteer opportunities to become orientated with the Brock community, your faculty and peers.
Badgerfest lasts an entire week, running from September 2 to 9. To help plan your week, we’ve highlighted one event happening every day that you should clear off your calendar for.
Sunday, Sept. 2
Kick Off Party
To welcome all our students back BUSU will be hosting a Kick off Party giving students an opportunity to meet fellow first-years, win free swag and become acquainted with the university. Its located in the Weather Station Field from 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Directly after this, you can attend the Welcome Week Live Burn where you can watch a mock dorm room burn to help students learn the importance of fire safety.
Monday, Sept. 3
Brock Summer Games
From 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Weather Station Field the Brock Summer Games provide the perfect opportunity to show competitive school spirit and make some new friends by taking part in friendly competition against other Brock Communities.
Tuesday, Sept. 4
The Vendor Fair & Clubs Fair
The vendor and clubs fair begins on Tuesday and will run until Wednesday. Located in Weather Station Field this fair provides students the opportunity to find out what services are offered at Brock. At the vendor and clubs fair, you can learn about joining various academic or social clubs. Clubs and societies are a wonderful way to engage with your university outside the classroom and help enrich your university experience. The fair isn’t just a way to partake in activities for the future, as you can become involved right away through participating in the games and events at vendor fair. Not only could you make some new friends but you can have the chance to win some awesome freebies. With over 50 vendors attending both on campus and off you can be sure to pick up a few cool items and get your name out there. Plus, stop by The Brock Press booth if you’re interested in contributing, or just want to pick up a paper! Plus we’re giving away a $250 Campus Store gift card.
Wednesday, Sept. 5
Outdoor Movie Night
What’s better than a movie under the stars? Head out to Weather Station Field between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to see a film on the big screen! The movie will be supplied with popcorn and refreshments and is a great way to meet new people and make lasting connections.
Thursday, Sept. 6
Starting at the Schmon Tower at 8:00 p.m., learn all about the history and haunted tales of St Catharines. There’s so much to learn about to send a shiver down your spine. Students will be taking a 316 bus accompanied by a guide orchestrated by Brock.
Friday, Sept. 7
Badger’s Got Talent
Brock believes all its students are immensely talented and can’t wait to see more of it! Whether you have a burning desire to sing or a passion for dance come to the years biggest open mic talent show night at Isaac’s Bar & Grill from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 8
Come discover Port Dalhousie and the attractions in the surrounding area while experiencing classic beach fun including a sand castle competition. Shuttles will leave from Isaac’s at 10:30 a.m.
While we know the campus is a fantastic place to be the Department of Residences is giving you an opportunity to get off campus and head to Lakeside Park Beach from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and soak up the sun.
Sunday, Sept. 9
Its time to relive your favourite childhood memories and take part in the Campus Carnival where you can experience games, face painting and enjoy your favourite carnival snacks. Whether you’re jumping in the bounce house or winning at ring toss, there are so many amazing things to do.
