The popular food vendor Fortune Cookie has been closed for business since the beginning of 2017-18 academic year. Fortune Cookie had been staple for delicious, affordable food in Student Alumni Centre building among Harvey’s, Subway, Booster Juice, Ah-So Sushi and Burrito Boyz.
When reached for comment in regards to the status of the now vacant Fortune Cookie location, Jordan Hallawell, the Marketing Manager at Brock University Students’ Union, stated students at Brock will be able to take part in a survey on a potential new vendor.
“Our executive team is currently exploring options for a new vendor,” Hallawell explained. “We’ve launched a survey to collect feedback from students about what they’d like to see. We are committed to finding an affordable, healthy food option, which would open in September 2018.”
The survey can be accessed at brockbusu.ca/survey/. The survey page asks students to rank five criteria in order of most to least importance when picking a new food vendor. The criteria listed are affordability, environmentally friendly, healthy options, dietary variety (halal, vegan, etc.) and serving size. The survey also gives students who complete it the option to enter a draw for a chance to win a $50 gift card to Union Station.
Hallawell and BUSU did not comment specifically about why Fortune Cookie is no longer available on campus, citing the confidential nature of the contract and the privacy of both parties.
