Exercise: it doesn’t have to be boring to be good for you


Let’s face it: we all know that exercise is good for us, but very few of us want to do it. What if exercise could be less of a chore? Well it can be. Here is a list of fun ways to get your daily workout:

1. Grab a ball or a racquet and hit the court

The Cage at Brock has a wide range of equipment that you can borrow for free with your student card and the gyms are usually open and available for use. It does not matter what sports you are interested in or whether or not you are any good. Heading to one of the gyms and playing a sport for even 30 minutes can make all the difference.

2. Sports not your thing? Go for a walk

Brock’s campus is full of natural beauty. Hit up the trails or just wander around campus. Just make sure to bundle up during this time of the year.

3. Try a gym class

Just because the gym is not usually your thing doesn’t mean you can’t try out one of the classes. Gym classes can be great for those who don’t have an extensive knowledge on exercise, want exercise to be more fun or need others to motivate them. The best part is, if you look hard enough you can typically find some free classes.

4. Dance your heart out

It’s as simple as putting on some good music and dancing around your room. It will get your heart rate up without feeling like exercise.

These are just a few of the many ways that working out can be fun. The important thing is not to think of it as a chore. Instead think about it as a way to destress.
