Study Munchies? Spicy Crab Dip

The holidays are near but more importantly, so are exams. Which not only means endless nights in the library, but crab-dip-7stress eating and sleepless nights. Study snacks are often cheap, convenient and sugary (a.k.a anything that can come from a vending machine). These options can become exhaustive and expensive. The following recipe promises a satisfying alternative that is both budget and time friendly. You can make this in a large batch and serve as you please, take it on the go with crackers or make it the centerpiece for a study group date. Note: this can be made and served hot or cold, all up to your preference to decide!

Prep Time : 10 mins

Cook Time : 30 mins

Here’s what you’ll need

1 package cream cheese, softened (to room temperature)

1 teaspoon lemon or lime juice

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp Mayo

½ cup grated cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 green onions, chopped

1 can of  crabmeat, diced

1 pinch salt

1 pinch ground black pepper

1 tsp paprika for garnish

 

Extra : for some texture

Mix 2 tsp of parmesan cheese and crush 5 saltine crackers with italian seasoning for a crunchy topping

 

Method

Preheat oven at 350 C

In a medium bowl, combine  cream cheese until soft and smooth.

Blend in lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper.

Mix in garlic, onions, and crab meat.

Transfer to a baking pan and top with breadcrumbs (if desired)

Bake at 350 for 30 mins until golden brown

 

Cold Version:

After combining all ingredients store, covered, in refrigerator until ready to use.

Ready to eat or microwave for 3 – 4 minutes when ready to serve
