Halloween is right around the corner and if you have not planned your costume yet, there’s still time left. However in true student style, we tend to leave things for the last minute. So, if you find yourself out of time and with resources this weekend. Here are 10 ideas to jumpstart your costume hunt, while still trying to keep some originality.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle
What you’ll need : green spray paint, tin foil baking sheet, coloured cloth
What to do? : Spray paint the tin foil baking sheet (these can be bought from the supermarket or dollar store). Measure the coloured cloth around your head and make markings where your eye sockets are to cut the holes for your ‘masks’. Asemble over a plain green t shirt and brown or black bottoms and voila! Ypure good to go. This tip can be used for a group costume as well! Just coordinate the different colours of cloth to match that of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello.
Bag of Jelly Beans
What you need to do: Get a clear trash bag, cut holes for your arms and legs to fit through. Print the nutritional facts on the back of the costume, just like what you see on the backs of candy bags. Fill up the bag with colored balloons for the jellybeans, and tie up the trash bag near your neck with a ribbon.
Good Old Ghost
White sheet, scissors, need I say more? Cut holes for your arms and eyes, and you’re ready to get out on the town with this classic and timeless costume.

Using a marker and a white t shirt use the above title, some may call it lazy, i think it’s genius. This one is sure to be a conversation starter.
What you’ll need : white t shirt, black tape
Simply outline the body of a stick figure using the black tape on the white shirt. This idea is not only inexpensive but can be done in less than 10 minutes!
This beauty only requires a few flowers that can be purchased from your local dollar store or arts and crafts shop. Make two braids from the crown of your head to the base, secure with a hair tie. Use a eye pencil or brow pencil to enhance and create the illusion of fuller, thicker brows. Pair with a high neck top or a peasant dress/ blouse to complete the look. You’ll soon resemble this feminist icon.
Bunch of Grapes
What you’ll need : purple balloons and two way tape, a friend to assist. Inflate balloons at various sizes to add some dimension to the ‘bunch’ you are trying to create. Use the two way tape to secure the balloons to your outfit to create the illusion you are a a bunch of grapes. Group idea : try it with friends for a full ‘vine’
This is one of the funnier ideas on the list but only requires a couple labels and a sharpie to create. All you have to do is get as many labels you can fit on a shirt and use different names for each label. This punny costume will be sure to get some laughs and grab attention at whatever Halloween event you attend.
You definitely won’t scare anyone with this costume. Wear a plaid top, jeans, and a sun hat, and paint your face to complete the look

Suspenders, highwaisted jeans and glasses You can even opt to braid your air in two pigtails, and paint on some red freckles to resemble Junie B Jones.
