March 14 – Brock University has announced that all campuses, including the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts in Downtown St. Catharines and the Hamilton Campus will be closed for March 14 due to the winter storm that has hit the Niagara region over the course of Monday night into Tuesday morning. Environment Canada issued a storm warning this past weekend, calling for up to 30 centimeters of snow.
The storm began on Monday around noon, and continued throughout the night. The Weather Network’s hourly forecast predicts the snow to continue until Wednesday 10:00 a.m. (subject to change).
The Weather Network’s Winter Storm Warning also mentions that winds are expected to be as high as 60km/h resulting in widespread blowing snow.
The road conditions in the area are considered dangerous and continue to worsen Tuesday morning due to additional snow and the heavy winds.
All buildings are closed but services, such as dining for students in residences, will be provided.
