Are you creative and artistic? Do you like to design?
If you answered yes to the questions above then it may be in your best interest to create and submit your own unique clothing design for the upcoming second annual Would U Rep It? design challenge hosted by the Campus Store.
The Campus Store is looking for bold, new designs for Brock apparel for students to rep for the upcoming school year.
Last year, Goodman School of Business student Leona Yiu won the design challenge by students voting for her ‘Keep Calm and Brock On’ design on the day of the event. Due to her creativity, Yiu’s design went on to sell at the Campus Store for the following school year as a red t-shirt and it has been a popular item according to Hillary Pattenden, this year’s Marketing and Communications Assistant for the Brock Campus Store.
“This event is all about student engagement and creativity,” said Pattenden. “We really want to see innovative designs that will appeal to the Brock community.”
The event, which will take place on March 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will give students the opportunity to browse through and compare the designs that are submitted in order to give feedback and select their favourite options. The Campus Store is also providing free pizza starting at noon as well as the option to fill out a ballot for a chance to win clothing for a year (valued at $800) as well as two Smart TVs.
For those that are considering entering the challenge, there are templates of white and red shirts provided on the event page (link below).
“The guidelines are minimal for this challenge,” said Pattenden. “The main guideline is to be sure that the design is reflective of our school colours – red, white, navy and black.”
It’s important for students to note that the designs cannot have images taken directly from somebody else’s work, such as searching ‘badger’ on Google, in case of copyright infringement.
“The Campus Store encourages students to use their own drawings and photos,” said Pattenden, “as well as valid Brock logos and designs.”
The design challenge is free for all students to submit their designs. All templates of the designs are to be emailed to CampusStore@brocku.ca by March 20.
The winner of the design challenge will have their design sold at the Campus Store the following school year and receive 12 per cent of the revenue towards a Brock club or charity of choice. The winner will also receive 10 free shirts of their design.
“At the end of the day our goal is simply to give students the opportunity to design and create what their Brock peers want to see in our store,” said Pattenden.
