Gamescom took over Cologne, Germany this weekend and the major game companies brought out the big guns to celebrate. A lot happened over the five day convention, here are some of the highlights:
Bungie- Senior Producer Scott Taylor told IGN they’re “working on it,” when it comes to vault space for players ahead of the launch of Destiny: Rise of Iron on September 20. Expect to be clearing space for new equipment.
Blizzard — A new map was released for Overwatch, the first free add-on since the game’s release back in May. The new world, Eichenwalde is appropriately set in Germany. The company also screened an animated short telling more of the story of Bastion.
Ubisoft — Behind the scenes footage from the Assassins Creed movie coming out in December was released showing Michael Fassbender’s stunt double doing an actual, live, leap of faith. According to the video, it’s the highest freefall by a stunt person in 35 years.
Square Enix— Final Fantasy XV has been pushed back until November. Originally slated for a September 30 release, producers will take an extra two months for some final adjustments.
Capcom — A truly terrifying gameplay trailer was released for Resident Evil: Biohazard, the seventh game in the series. Don’t watch it in the dark. The game is set for release in January 2017. It looks a lot better than RE6, but then again, anything would.
