Why have you decided to run for this position?

“After being a student for four years, I’ve seen many of the areas that need improvement around the university, and within my specific faculty. That’s why I’ve decided to run, because I want to do something about it. As a result of my experiences as a student, I’ve learned that if you’re not happy with something, you can actually take actions to change it, so I wanted to stand up and make official change rather than stay idle.”

What makes you the best candidate for this position?

“Experience is what makes me the best candidate for this position. I’ve taken all kinds of classes through this faculty. Science varies a lot, and includes a vast range of subfields. Over my four years, I’ve seen almost every type of lab or course being at Brock this amount of time, which gives me a good understanding of the academic environment that students will experience throughout their degree.”

How do you plan to represent the students of your faculty?

“First of all, my platform is essentially based on labs. I want to improve labs as much as possible. I will try my best to represent each part of the faculty so that I don’t leave anyone out. Ideally, I want to make them more realistic, to ease the transition after graduation. The uncertainty of adapting to grad school can be daunting, I want to create clubs that helps students transition between their undergraduate and post-graduation programs. I also want to raise awareness about scientific projects that people students are doing around campus. I went to a symposium last year and I found it really interesting, but not many people were in attendance. I found it fascinating that so few people actually knew about it. I understand the amount of work that needs to be put in as a science student, and I believe it is only fair that these determined students get to present their work. Therefore, I want to raise awareness in regards to science in general, and then focus on the specific scientific achievements completed right here at Brock.”

To the best of your knowledge, what is BUSAC and what does it do?

“BUSAC is a governing body that represents students and concentrates on each faculty separately so that the decisions made are in the best interest of each faculty.”
