Faculty of Humanities (1 seat available)
Why have you decided to run for this position?
“The main reason I want to run for this position is because I believe the relationship between BUSU and clubs is symbiotic. Humanities is a faculty that has lots of clubs that do lots of interesting things. This shouldn’t be exclusive, there needs to be more communication and many people can benefit from these opportunities; we all have similar interests. I feel more comfortable as a fourth year and I’m local so there is I’m going into this with a high level of comfort. I understand the pressure of university because I realize it’s a lifestyle.”
If elected, how will you effectively represent the students of your faculty?
“The main thing with me is communication between clubs and BUSAC. I’ve already facebooked them to see where they want to go. Let’s say the classic department has a movie night, I want to raise more awareness for things like that. I’m not the most involved guy but I feel like a lot of things go under the radar in the faculty of humanities. It’s about dialogue and having that conversation. I’m graduating soon and there’s a personal interest because I feel like I have the knowledge to do this and make a real difference.”
What makes you the best candidate for this position?
“From my experience, I’m very involved in the history department. If I have a niche, it will be with clubs and creating dialogue. I feel like I’m experienced and confident going into the election. My qualifications for this position comes from the fact that I’ve come from a working class family. I have student loans, I have to work and travel to school as well. I know what’s important to students and that is access. People are here to fulfill academic goals and they need access to achieve that. I come here, I work and I want to make sure everyone has the opportunities they need to succeed.”
To the best of your knowledge, what is BUSAC and what does it do?
“BUSAC is a legislature between BUSU and students. It’s supposed to create dialogue between the two and ensure proper communication occurs. Makes sure clubs run smoothly and allocates funds for their operation.”
