On Wednesday, November 11th, Brock University will be hosting their annual Remembrance Day Ceremony in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium starting at 10:45am. Students, staff, faculty and community members are invited to attend the ceremony. While it is not mandatory from any constituent to attend, it is encouraged to take a moment of silence at 11:00am on this day in memory of the fallen soldiers, whom we recognize on Remembrance Day. Red poppy boxes are stationed around campus with no minimum donation required. All funds raised will go towards The Royal Canadian Legion. For more information regarding the ceremony, follow @BrockUniversity on Twitter.
Brock University Student’s Union (BUSU) will be back in the campus hallways advocating for their new campaign, Ride with Me S.O.A. until Tuesday, November 10th. This campaign serves to raise awareness about transportation safety, focusing on providing information to students about facts such as how to identify a legal taxi from one that is illegal. The Advocacy Team will also be at their hub located in Mackenzie Chown A near the Canadian Tire Bridge in Taro Hall, talking one-on-one with students about how this campaign will help keep students safe on the roads. A transit survey is live on the unions’ website, that allows students to provide feedback on the effectiveness of transit in the region.
Canadian Blood Services is hosting the second Blood Clinic of the year on-campus in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium this Friday, November 13th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Their One Match event will also be taking place just outside of Court 4. Students, staff, faculty and community members are encouraged to pre-register for this event at blood.ca in order to reserve their spot during a specific time slot. Day-of registration will be available right by the gymnasium. This organization will be hosting another clinic in the early months of 2016 if individuals are not able to attend on Friday.
