This week at a glance – Nov. 23, 2015

The finish line is so close Badgers, and there are plenty of detours to take advantage of this week as you make your way through until the end of the semester.

The Brock University Badgers are about to make history by being the first university team to play in the brand new Meridian Centre this Saturday, Nov. 28 at 5:00pm. The Badgers women and men basketball teams will face off against the Lakehead University Thunderwolves starting Friday, Nov. 27 in the Bob Davis Gym to kick off the home opening weekend. Free tickets are sold out for both nights, but are available for purchase online at Ticketmaster for $5 for Nov. 28. The Campus Store is also selling #WeAreReady t-shirts for $5 in support of this big event.

The fourth bi-annual BrockU Talks is taking place this week on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 5:00-7:00pm in Pond Inlet. Listen to seven of your fellow Badgers speak about their passions on this incredibly inspiring night while networking with them following the event. Snacks will be provided for all attendees. Pre-register online at this link and check out their speaker line up on the Facebook page.

Stress seems to be a hot topic now that we are in finals season, but more importantly, de-stressing is the key to keeping your mental health in check. On Tuesday, Nov. 24, the Brock Student Leadership Network is hosting an Exam De-Stress and Craft Workshop from 3:00-5:00pm. All crafts will be donated to West Park Health Centre to decorate the space for the residents. Students can RSVP on ExperienceBU to attend.

Two Brock students are taking on the endeavor to walk 100km from Brock University to Toronto from Friday, Nov. 27 to Sunday, Nov. 29 in order to raise awareness and funds for Syrian refugees. Hosted through UNICEF Brock, Patrick Foster and Jad Nasser, along with several other student supporters, will be participating in this weekend event. Volunteers will continue to table this week in Mackenzie Chown A Block and in front of the Fish Bowl. Help them reach their goal by donating to this cause through the online link.

There are only a couple weeks left of the fall semester, so get a head start on the holiday season by giving back to the local community. Student Life & Community Experience will continue to sell red and white poinsettias in a variety of sizes until November 27th, with all proceeds going to the Rankin Cancer Run. Sales are open to all Brock and community affiliates, and can be ordered through this link or the front desk in the Involvement Commons (Mackenzie Chown A 204).
