It’s that time of year again, when the nights are longer and the days are getting shorter. In other words, the coffee is getting stronger and your attention span is weakening by the second. Crunch time isn’t all bad, however. You may be lacking sleep and in need of another reading week, but with all the hustle and bustle around campus, take some time to smell the roses. Appreciating the little things in life can really help to keep you calm and focused over the next few weeks. Noticing these awesome moments in life, especially at Brock, is #Brocksome! Here are a few pick me-ups to help all of you get through exam month.
1. When you walk outside and the bus is already waiting for you.
My fellow off-campus students can really appreciate when this moment happens. It’s one thing to double check when the bus is coming, but it’s hard when you are in a rush to get to the bus anyways. After a long day of busting your chops in seminar, you get to the bus loop and the bus is already there, waiting for you to board. Everyone enjoys that satisfying breather you get after class when you take your seat on the bus. The thought of going home and hopping into pj’s is pure bliss. #Brocksome!
2. Early morning Tim’s run with no line.
No one likes 8:00 a.m. lectures. If you do, kudos to you, but for the rest of us, it’s always a struggle to break off the intimate relationship we have with our beds. There is only one thing that will ease the pain of saying goodbye to your warm sheets for the day: COFFEE. Make that a triple-triple. You look at your phone and you realize it’s 8:15 a.m., you quickly jump into some sweats and put on a baseball cap, because let’s be honest, you don’t have time to fix your hair. You run to the Tim’s on campus and the day is officially blessed. There is no line. Hooray! You grab your coffee and maybe a muffin to go and what used to be a rough morning is now a bit better with coffee. #Brocksome
3. When class is cancelled.
If there is one thing that could be changed about the world, it’s that we need an extra day in the week. Since that’s likely not going to happen, freeing up time is the only solution. How is this even possible, though? Between class, homework, sports and clubs, even eating is time consuming! I guess we could stop taking showers, or the late night binge watch of BuzzFeed videos and Netflix. But let’s be real: that is not going to happen. Here you are getting ready for yet another busy day and you get a message with 3 magical little words. Class. Is. Cancelled… #Brocksome.
