This week, BUFS is pleased to present Sleeping Giant starring Jackson Martin, Nick Serino, Erika Brodzky and directed by Andrew Cividino.
Sleeping Giant, Winner of the award for Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival, is the story of three teenage boys from very different worlds. The film takes place over summer vacation in scenic Northern Ontario and carries its audience through the very real and emotional trials that come with the territory of being a teenager. However, don’t be fooled, this film isn’t the typical cliché of misfit youth. As the boys struggle to prove their manhood, they succumb to peer pressure and a series of events take place that change their innocent boyhood fun into something that they can’t turn back from. The film takes a dark turn as they are left to deal with the very real consequences of their choices.
Sleeping Giant screens Wednesday Nov. 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the Landmark Theatres, Pen Centre. Visit brocku.ca/bufs for details.
