The newly renamed Brock Art Collective kicked things off with a “Welcome Back” show at Mahtay Cafe for the month of October. The Welcome Back show is a collection of hangable visual works by students that includes a wide range of pieces with varied mediums and sizes. Eclectically curated, viewers can see everything from experimental photography to large scale paintings. There is also a selection of sculptural wall hangings that are clever assemblages of 3-D objects on 2-D surfaces.
The BAC, now spearheaded by senior VISA (Visual Arts) students Katie Mazie, Ben Mosher, Alexandra Muresan and Matt Caldwell, have made a conscious effort to revitalize the Brock Art Club and create more opportunities for students to improve their artistic practice and exhibit their work. On Oct. 10, the BAC will be holding a life drawing session in the on-campus Glenridge Studio, and will later be offering a colour theory and painting workshop, lead by VISA student Sean Benton on Oct. 24. There will be a chance to speak to the artists at the official opening party on Oct. 11, 7:00 p.m. at Mahtay Cafe. The show will be on display for the remainder of October, so head down to Mahtay and check out the visual works by your fellow Brock peers.
