As the school year wears on, it’s easy to become stressed with the amount of things you have on your plate. When midterms start to come and the assignments pile up, sometimes it seems like you’ll never be able to finish it. While a little stress is good, a lot of stress is not. That being said, not only is important to remain physically healthy but it’s equally important to be aware of your mental health. Sometimes this means you have to take the step to talk to someone about the stress you’re feeling, and at Brock University, we are fortunate to have great counselling services available to those who are in need. There are many reasons that you may want to seek help whether it has to do with your schoolwork, a relationship or just severely missing home. The counselling services at Brock University are there for you when you need it. All of the staff have a Master’s or equivalent degree in counselling and at least ten years of experience in the field. The staff is very familiar with a variety of issues that a student might be facing during their academic career that can negatively impact their experience and their overall mental health. As a Brock student, there is no limit on the amount of times you may visit a counsellor and therefore there is no pressure to reach the goals you need to in a set time frame as is the case in many other counselling programs.
Appointments are made in a timely fashion as the offices are open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so you won’t be waiting weeks to see someone. For more information on how to make an appointment and Brock’s Counselling Services visit, brocku.ca/personal-counselling
