This November, the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts is refusing to slow down their artistic programming. In fact, the Department of Music alone has a packed schedule including everything from choirs to symphonies. Here are some of the upcoming events put on by the Department of Music.
The VIVA VOCE Choral Series returns in November with 2 spotlight performances. The first, is the Avanti Chamber Singers presenting “Blessed Are They” on November 16 at 7:30 p.m. This concert is the premiere of John Butler’s Requiem and CD release. The concert will be at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 99 Ontario St., St. Catharines. Tickets are $15 for students and are available at the door.
The second concert of the VIVA VOCE Series is on November 30 at 7:30 p.m., also at the St. Thomas Anglican Church. The concert will be the Brock University Choirs presenting “Music, Spread Thy Voice!” Tickets are approximately $10 for students and can be purchased either at the door or from the Box Office at the Centre of the Arts.
In addition, the RBC Foundation Music@Noon series continues every Tuesday at lunchtime. These recitals are free and open to the public. Nov. 5 will feature faculty member, Timothy Phelan on guitar at the Concordia Seminary Chapel. The next is on Nov. 12 and will showcase student’s talents in both voice and instrument. This recital will be held at the Sean O’ Sullivan Theatre. Finally, the last performances will be held on Nov. 19 and Nov. 26 featuring voice and instrumental students, respectively, at the Sean O’ Sullivan Theatre.
