Student Life and Community Experience (SLCE) is inviting all Badgers to participate in the 62nd annual Niagara Wine Festiva’s Grande Parade.
Curtis Gadula, manager of Off Campus Living and Neighbourhood relations believes that the parade will be another successful event for the Niagara region, but also for the Brock University community.
In past years the Brock community has come to the parade with a specific theme, but this year the direction for the Brock community is strictly that of Badger spirit.
The composition will be of staff, students and faculty members, handing out badger-printed t-shirts, balloons, prize packages and giveaways.
Keeping up with the spirit demonstrated at this year’s Homecoming, Gadula expects to see enthusiasm, pride and support from the Brock community.
“Our goal is to send home the message that Brock as an institution is here and proud. We want to show off our culture and pride,” said Gadula.
If you were born and raised in St. Catharines, or have been a part of the community for a number of years, you’ve probably heard of how big an event the Grape and Wine festival is.
This year’s theme is for the Grande Parade is ‘Honouring our Hero’s, Then & Now’. Annually, the Grape and Wine festival attracts more and more people from all over Ontario and the world to take part the in harvest and celebration of the wineries in Niagara. This year over 10,000 spectators are expected. To Gadula, the Grape and Wine festival is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the greater public at large.
“It gives students a chance to participate in something memorable, knowing that they’re a part of something,” said Gadula.
The Grande Parade takes place this Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m in downtown St. Catharines. Students looking to get involved can contact Curtis at email@example.com, or visit the SLCE page on the ExperienceBU portal.
