Video game industry is big business

Recently, the video game industry lost one of its founding fathers as classic video game developer Atari filed for bankruptcy protection in the US.
Atari Inc. – an American affiliate of Atari SA – filed for bankruptcy in an attempt to separate itself from its French-owned parent company, who are currently burdened with debt and have become unprofitable. Through sale of classic titles such as Pong, Centipede and Asteroids, Atari Inc. hopes to raise funds for new developments, seeking to re-enter the highly competitive video game industry.
Whether they will be able to achieve this feat is yet to be seen, but standing in Atari’s way are a lot of heavy hitters.
Companies such as Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts (EA) and Nintendo are some of the largest video game developers in the World.
