Looking to join the B.U.S.U team this year?

As February swiftly approaches, the Elections Team here at Brock University is hectically preparing for the February Executive Elections. The purpose of the elections serves to elect the Brock University Students’ Union’s four executives and Board of Directors for the school year of 2013-2014. The positions, which are open to all undergraduate students at Brock University, comprise of President, Vice President of Finance & Administration, Vice President Student Services, and Vice President of University Affairs.
Alongside these elected positions, the Brock Student Sexual Violence Support Centre is returning to once again ask all students whether or not they support a $2.75 per credit fee which will be used to fund the Brock Student Sexual Violence Support Centre.
As in the previous years, there will be three scheduled debates where the candidates and referenda teams will answer questions for the local Brock community to witness. These debates are considered to be public, which simply means that any student is welcome to attend. The dates and details for these debates are as follows:
Tuesday February 5th, 2013 – DeCew Cafeteria at 12:00 p.m.;
Thursday February 7th, 2013 – Livestreamed Debate at 5:00 p.m.;
Monday February 11th, 2013 – Isaac’s Bar and Grill at 12:00 p.m.
Voting days will be featured from Tuesday February 12 until Thursday February 14, 2013. Polls will open at 9:00 am on February 12 and will close at 9:00 pm on February 14. Voting will occur online, with a link being sent to your Brock email. Although all voting will be online and accessible from anywhere, we will still have at least two polling stations that will be located in Mackenzie Chown A Block and the Fishbowl.
For the first time the results of the current election will be announced publically, meaning that any student is welcome to come join the sharing of the results, which will take place at Isaac’s Bar and Grill on campus beginning at 9:00 p.m. The outcome of the voting will be announced at 9:30 p.m. on the Isaac’s stage, and any interested individuals are encouraged to come partake in the elections excitement as well as the new executive staff for upcoming year.
If you have any questions or concerns with elections, please contact the Chief Returning Officer, Jimmy Norman, at cro@busu.net.
